Boz Scaggs est un chanteur, auteur-compositeur et guitariste américain. Né le 8 juin 1944 à Canton, dans l'Ohio, Boz est le fils d'un voyageur de commerce qui a d'abord installé la famille à McAlester, dans l'Oklahoma, puis à Plano, au Texas. Boz a fréquenté une école privée à Dallas, où un ami lui a donné le surnom de "Bosley", qui deviendra ensuite son nom actuel, "Boz". Boz commence à apprendre l'art de la guitare à l'âge de 12 ans. Il rencontre alors Steve Miller, un collègue guitariste qui deviendra le leader du Steve Miller Band. À cette époque, Scaggs et Miller jouent dans des groupes tels que les Ardells et les Fabulous Knight Trains. Cette période marque le début de la carrière musicale de Scagg. Scaggs a quitté l'école et a voyagé aux États-Unis, à Londres et en Suède. L'album, qui a reçu une nomination aux Grammy Awards pour l'album de l'année et une autre nomination pour Wissert en tant que producteur de l'année, a atteint la deuxième place du Billboard 200 aux États-Unis et la première place dans un certain nombre d'autres pays, et a donné naissance à quatre singles à succès : "It's Over", "Lowdown", "What Can I Say" et "Lido Shuffle", ainsi qu'à la ballade poignante "We're All Alone", enregistrée plus tard par Rita Coolidge et Frankie Valli. "Lowdown" s'est vendu à plus d'un million d'exemplaires aux États-Unis et a remporté le Grammy Award de la meilleure chanson R&B.
