This song is easy chord-wise but the order the chords are played in is confusing. When
it first starts off it starts on a very low then progresses up. For example on the
first line you play a low then go up to then up to then and the next F.
You stop going higher on "stone" and play down but stay on that octave until the next
verse(then you start over).
****Also in the Chorus I couldn't figure out what the note name was for the other chord
on "pancake". I put a star buy it; you basically play a but instead of the last note
being a its replaced with a play flat.
email me with any questions if this is confusing(sorry if it is!!)
Intro(single notes):
flat flat
flat flat
flat flat
(rest of the song is played in chords)
Verse:
They fell out into the navy night
with smiles of stone
walking down roads that glittered
with winter light and snow
linking thin arms they swam the sea
a soul sea
gleefully cackling bitter and twisted
burning like golden rings
it was the burning of the bright young things
not a penny on them but
they had expensive needs
flying down hot city streets
country and the city mouse
found an old Dutch Pancake house
ordered a plate of syrupy lies
(play A lower )
yeah they ate 'em all up
and licked the plate dry
(play these notes an octave lower)
ordered 8 left without paying
syrupy syrupy lies
ran down the streets with pancake gods saying
"we can see your guilty guilty eyes
tonight a pancake thief dies."
Pre-Chorus:
sharp
run as fast as you can
sharp
run as fast as you can
sharp
run as fast as you can
sharp
as fast as you can
sharp
as fast as you can
* sharp flat flat
Because pancake karma is coming for you
* sharp flat flat
pancake karma is coming for you
drunk kids never pay for food
gives the gods a foul mood
sharp
pancake karma is coming
flat flat
is coming for you
Verse: (start from the lower keys as in the beginning)
sleepy when drink the magical winds
parting winds all of the bright things
split them apart cement on their wake
to places where the pancake gods wait
one got lost and ended up
in Leytonstone
other missed his train or
lost his wallet man bag and his phone
sixty pounds spent on the black cab
all the way back home
all the way back home
all the way back home
gods chirped
"oh you're not so smug anymore
karma kicked your butt real good
and next time you try making a runner for the door
don't be tight just pay for your food
don't be tight just pay for your food
Pre-Chorus:
sharp
run as fast as you can
sharp
run as fast as you can
sharp
run as fast as you can
sharp
as fast as you can
sharp
as fast as you can
* sharp flat flat
Because pancake karma is coming for you
* sharp flat flat
pancake karma is coming for you
drunk kids never pay for food
(play the rest of the song an octave lower)
gives the gods a foul mood
sharp
pancake karma is co- is co-
(these are single notes like the intro)
is coming for you flat flat
