Kate Nash est une chanteuse et auteure-compositrice anglaise basée à Londres. Elle a eu un hit #2 au Royaume-Uni "Foundations" en 2007, suivi par l'album Made of Bricks, numéro 1 des ventes au Royaume-Uni. Le deuxième album de Nash, My Best Friend Is You, a débuté en 2010, avec le single principal "Do Wah Do". MBFIS, bien que similaire dans le son à Made of Bricks, a montré les premiers signes de l'abandon de Nash de la musique pop axée sur le piano des auteurs-compositeurs-interprètes vers une musique plus lourde inspirée du punk et du riot grrrl, à laquelle elle est maintenant plus ancrée. Girl Talk, le troisième album de Nash, s'éloigne complètement de son son précédent - et quitte son label à cause de cela. Avec des guitares puissantes, des riffs accrocheurs et des paroles qui poussent à la réflexion, Girl Talk montre un côté intrépide de Nash, peut-être pas encore vu sur ses deux précédents albums. En août 2016, Nash a sorti le single "Good Summer", une chanson fun et optimiste sur les joies des étés anglais ; et "My Little Alien" en novembre de la même année, dont les paroles parlent d'un extraterrestre - mais comme Nash l'a déclaré lors de concerts (et dans le clip) de sa chienne, Stella. Également à l'automne 2016, Nash a annoncé sa participation à la série Netflix GLOW), qui suit des catcheuses dans les années 1980 ; la série a été diffusée pour la première fois à l'été 2017, et Nash apparaîtra à nouveau dans sa deuxième saison. En avril 2017, Nash a annoncé qu'elle avait l'intention de sortir son cinquième album avec l'aide d'une campagne kickstarter, qui a rapidement récolté assez d'argent pour qu'elle puisse commencer à travailler sur l'album. Dans le même temps, Nash a publié l'EP Agenda, comprenant des chansons telles que "Agenda", "Call Me", et la précédemment mentionnée "My Little Alien". En janvier 2018, elle a annoncé qu'elle travaillait sur une autre chanson, appelée "Drink About You", et l'a publiée en février pour ses participants à la campagne kickstarter. Le 2 février, elle a annoncé que son nouvel album s'appellerait Yesterday Was Forever, et qu'il sortirait le 30 mars 2018.
