Nommée en l'honneur de Bette Davis, Bette Midler a commencé sa carrière en se produisant sur des scènes off-broadway jusqu'à ce qu'elle développe le personnage de scène The Divine Miss M en chantant dans le célèbre établissement de bains gay Continental Baths.
