Barry Manilow (né Barry Alan Pincus) est un crooner, producteur, arrangeur, compositeur et pianiste de formation classique de renommée internationale, originaire de Brooklyn, New York, qui a remporté plusieurs albums certifiés or et platine, un Emmy, un Grammy, un Tony et un Clio Award au cours de sa carrière de plus de 50 ans. À l'origine, aspirant écrivain de Broadway, Manilow s'est fait connaître chez CBS comme le "facteur jouant du piano", avant d'obtenir un poste de directeur musical pour deux émissions de la chaîne. Parallèlement, il a écrit des jingles populaires pour des entreprises telles que McDonalds, Pepsi, State Farm, Band-Aid, Stridex et KFC. Après avoir accepté l'offre de Bette Midler de jouer du piano pour son spectacle dans un établissement de bains de New York (ainsi que pour les autres spectacles de l'établissement), Manilow a produit son premier album The Divine Miss M, qui a été classé au top 10 des Grammy Awards en 1972, et a insisté pour avoir sa propre place dans son spectacle de tournée, ce qu'elle a accepté à contrecœur. En 2011, Manilow a sorti 15 Minutes, son premier album de matériel original en dix ans. En 2015, il est revenu à sa passion originelle et a écrit la comédie musicale Harmony avec son collaborateur de longue date Bruce Sussman. La même année, il a épousé son manager de longue date Garry Keif, avec qui il avait secrètement entretenu une relation de 40 ans. En 2020, Manilow continue de se produire, détient le record du plus grand nombre d'années de résidence à Las Vegas (battant le record d'Elvis de sept ans en 2012) et est considéré comme l'artiste adulte contemporain le plus vendu de tous les temps, avec des ventes de 85 millions d'albums dans le monde entier.
